The Milwaukee Brewers continued their hot streak on Sunday, defeating the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 in a thrilling walk-off homerun victory.
With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio stepped up to the plate and launched a solo homerun over the left-field wall, sending the crowd at American Family Field into a frenzy.
A Back-and-Forth Affair
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading runs throughout the contest.
The Reds struck first in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Kyle Farmer. The Brewers responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homerun by Tyrone Taylor.
The Reds regained the lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run homerun by Mike Moustakas.
The Brewers tied the game again in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Willy Adames.
The game remained tied until Chourio's heroics in the ninth inning.
Chourio Continues to Impress
Chourio, who was called up from Triple-A Nashville on June 26, has quickly become a key contributor for the Brewers.
The 21-year-old outfielder is batting .314 with 5 homeruns and 15 RBIs in 23 games.
His walk-off homerun on Sunday was his second of the season.
Brewers' Winning Streak
The Brewers' victory on Sunday was their fifth consecutive win.
The team is now 46-38 this season and is currently in second place in the National League Central, 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs.
The Brewers will look to extend their winning streak on Tuesday when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field.
