Fc Shakhtar Donetsk Bologna Fc 1909 Uefa Champions League Serie A Ukrainian Premier League

FC Shakhtar Donetsk draws 0-0 with Bologna FC 1909 in a pre-season friendly ahead of the UEFA Champions League and Serie A

Shakhtar Donetsk played Serie A side Bologna to a 0-0 draw in what was their final pre-season test before the start of the Ukrainian Premier League and UEFA Champions League

Both sides had chances to win the game, but neither could find a breakthrough in a tight encounter. Andriy Totovytskyi was Shakhtar's brightest spark, with the winger causing Bologna problems on the left flank. The Italian side had the best chance of the game when Musa Barrow hit the post in the second half. But Shakhtar held on to secure a creditable draw against a Serie A side.

Shakhtar Donetsk will now turn their attention to the start of the Ukrainian Premier League next week, while Bologna will continue their pre-season preparations ahead of the start of the Serie A season in August.

The Ukrainian side will be looking to make a strong start to the season and challenge for the title after finishing second last season. They will also be hoping to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League, where they have been drawn in Group F alongside Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, and Celtic.

Bologna, meanwhile, will be looking to improve on their 13th-place finish in Serie A last season. They have made a number of new signings this summer, including Marko Arnautovic from Shanghai Port and Andrea Cambiaso from Genoa. They will be hoping that these new additions can help them push for a top-half finish in Serie A this season.
