Stay at Home and Avoid Travel, Met Office Warns

People in parts of Scotland have been urged to avoid travel and stay at home as Storm Babet approaches. The Met Office has issued an amber warning for severe weather, including gusts of wind of up to 80mph (128km/h). There is a good chance of power cuts, danger to life, and major disruption to travel and other activities.

Heavy Rain and Gales Expected

The Met Office has also issued an amber warning for heavy rain for parts of eastern Scotland. Unprecedented levels of rainfall and gales of more than 70mph are expected. Many parts of Scotland have already suffered storm damage and travel disruption as a result of the high winds.

There is an increased likelihood of impacts from severe weather, which could potentially disrupt travel plans. People are advised to check with their transport providers for the latest information on any delays or cancellations.
