Stack Overflow Launches Subscription-Based API for Training Language Models
API Provides Access to Public Dataset for Business and Enterprise Plans
Basic Plans Get Read-Only Access
Stack Overflow has unveiled a new subscription-based API service that grants access to its public dataset for training and fine-tuning large language models (LLMs).
The Stack Overflow Enterprise API is currently in beta and is available to a select group of customers. It provides read-write access to the platform's massive repository of code and programming-related content.
Basic plan users have read-only access to the API, while Business and Enterprise plan subscribers enjoy full read-write privileges. This allows them to train and refine their own LLMs using Stack Overflow's high-quality data.
The API's initial form is conceptually similar to the platform's existing Stack Overflow for Teams feature. However, the new service is intended for more intensive and sophisticated use cases, such as developing and deploying custom LLMs.
