Miami Adds Veteran Guard to Roster

Details of the Deal

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed guard Patty Mills. The terms of the deal were not disclosed per club policy. To make room for Mills, the HEAT waived Dru Smith.

Mills, a 6-foot-2 guard, brings a wealth of experience to the HEAT. He entered the NBA in 2009 and has played for the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Brooklyn Nets. He is known for his shooting ability and his tough defense. In the 2021-22 season with the Nets, Mills averaged 11.4 points and 2.3 assists per game.

The HEAT are expected to rely heavily on Mills' experience and leadership this season. He is expected to start alongside Kyle Lowery and Jimmy Butler in the backcourt.

Mills is a native of Australia and represented his country at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He helped lead the Boomers to a bronze medal in 2012. Mills is also a two-time EuroLeague champion, winning the title in 2014 and 2015 with the San Antonio Spurs.
