Minnesota on the Verge of First Series Win Since 2004
Wolves Rout Suns 126-109 in Game 3
The Minnesota Timberwolves took a commanding 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns with a 126-109 victory on Saturday night at Footprint Center.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for the Timberwolves with 30 points and 15 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell added 29 points and Anthony Edwards chipped in with 25 points. Devin Booker led the Suns with 28 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent his team from falling into a deep hole in the series.
The Timberwolves were in control of the game from the start, jumping out to a 14-point lead after the first quarter. They extended their lead to 20 points in the second quarter and never looked back.
The Suns were uncharacteristically sloppy in Game 3, committing 19 turnovers. They also shot just 33.3% from the field and 21.2% from three-point range.
The Timberwolves, meanwhile, shot 51.1% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Suns 51-37.
The Timberwolves can close out the series and advance to the second round with a win in Game 4 on Monday night in Phoenix.
