Sandstorm and Heavy Rainfall Hit Dubai
Reduced Visibility and Flooding Reported
Sandstorm Reduced Visibility to 50 Meters
A strong sandstorm hit Dubai on Friday afternoon, significantly reducing visibility to just 50 meters. The sandstorm brought strong winds, making it difficult for residents to see and breathe. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a warning urging residents to stay indoors and avoid driving during the sandstorm.
Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Al Ain
Parts of Al Ain also experienced heavy rainfall on Friday, leading to flooding in some areas. The rain caused waterlogging in streets and highways, making it difficult for motorists to navigate. The NCM reported that over 100 millimeters of rain fell in some areas of Al Ain, resulting in flash floods.
Weather Forecast for Dubai and Al Ain
The NCM forecast indicates that the sandstorm is expected to continue throughout the night before gradually subsiding on Saturday morning. Rainfall is also expected to persist in Al Ain and its surrounding areas, with the potential for further flooding. Residents are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the latest weather updates.
